Mrs. Alice Ashmore-Gaulden

Program Manager

Mrs. Alice Gaulden joined Jobs for Mississippi Graduates in November of 2000.  She finds Jobs For Mississippi Graduates to be the most rewarding job she has ever had.  Her duties as a program manager are to keep abreast of what is happening and the progress being made with our students from the results obtained by our Job Specialists who are in the classroom every single day.  Mrs. Gaulden enjoys reading  great teacher quotes and she came across  one written by â€?Haim G. Ginott. “I’ve come to a frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It’s my personal approach that creates the climate. It’s my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.â€?After reading the quote, Mrs. Gaulden came to an uplifting conclusion. Jobs for Mississippi Graduates consist of teachers who put forth a great amount of effort to make a child’s life joyous and inspirational. The job specialists build students up and instill in them self-worth.  The job specialists of JMG meet the students where they are, introduce them to the real world and encourage them to make decisions that will enable them to live a fruitful adult life. Mrs. Gaulden feels that it is a privilege and such a great reward to be a part of this organization.
