An essential part of the Jobs for Mississippi Graduates program is the student-led Career Association. Students selected for the program are automatically members of the Career Association. The Chapter Activities Plan provides for the development of personal, leadership and social skills and citizenship and career preparation. The Career Association provides a unique vehicle for developing, practicing and refining skills, knowledge and motivation needed for success in the world of work.
The Career Association provides a system of recognition (chapter, state and national) that many program participants might not otherwise have a chance to experience. As well as being an integral part of the program, the Career Association is also an integral part of the school environment. It works hand-in-hand with the school system in helping to prepare well-adjusted, employable citizens.
The various chapter activities create an interest in careers and serve as an avenue for the expression of the participants’ talents. The Career Association provides a unique showcase for achievement and a vital incentive for members to be the best they can be.
The JAG Career Association is the only student organization operating in the high school for youth most at risk. It provides chapter members with unique opportunities to develop the JMG competencies through the Chapter Activities Plan. The Career Association provides competitive events designed to stimulate student involvement and acquisition of JMG's core competencies and develops leadership skills through service as a local or state officer or committee chair and involvement in local and/or state conferences.
